Gen X Updates

Post by TSR2 »

Hi Guys,

Been looking over at the Horizon forums for Gen X and they have now released the 3rd update for the water masks. I don't fancy blowing my bandwidth limit on these, so I'm wondering if anyone else has already got the files downloaded? I'd be happy to send a blank DVD and cash for P&P if they could burn it for me?

Cheers

Hi Ben.

I've got all the updates released so far. But there are unlikely to be any more downloads.

The rest are to be released on DVD, at cost to registered customers. Given the cost of blank dual layer DVDs (the SMALLEST update yet has been about 6.7GB) it's probably worth waiting. Shouldn't be long now, but of course we've heard that before! ;-)

The updates will include a revised terrain mesh to fix the issues that M$ created with SP2.

If you really want the 4 updates released to date, PM me!

Thanks for the info James. If there's more to come I'll wait for a bit. :)

All the best

I was always under the impression any DVD updates were to be issued free of charge to registered customers for all the faffing about in the first place. :@ :@ :@

Correct Eddie. The updates will be available FOC. If you want the water masks, which are being classed as extras, they'll supply the DVDs at cost.

The water masks will be available for download FOC (some areas are already, via torrent).
Night lighting will be free to download, or on a free DVD.
If you want both on DVD, then it's a small charge to cover costs.

To quote Chris Ellis on the Horizon forums:
Free update DVDs will be made available which contain the Night Lighting only, shortly after the new master DVDs are done.

In summary, and hopefully to avoid any confusion;

Anyone wishing to get the Night Lights on DVD can do so free of charge when it's available.
Anyone wishing to download the Night Lights can do so free of charge when it's available.
Anyone wishing to download updates as an when they are released can do so free of charge when they're available.
Anyone wishing to get all updates (including Night Lights) on DVD can do so for a small charge (to cover costs) when they become available.
