DM's VC10 with FSX and Vista

Post by Grace Quirrel »

Right, first of all, I offer a hundred apologies if this has been covered before, but I did a search and couldn't see anything...

Q: Will DM's VC10 run using FSX and Vista?

Please please please tell me it will, 'cos I've had over a month without the orgiastic delights of the 10 and I can't stand it any longer (first I lost my appetite, then I stopped shaving and refused all food and visitors. Now I can only sit looking through VC10 books and reading DM's manual...) :'(

Okey d'oh Grace. As long as you have up to and including FSX SP2 (or the payware addon).. it should work pretty much as it does in FS9 ;-)

Don't forget your thumbnails - Dave has made it so simple with his thumbnail images on the title pages for all four aircraft - I saved the thumbnails directly into the texture folders - very simple, thanx DM :welldone:

I have downloaded the 10 and it is sitting in the FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes folder alongside all the others, but when I start FS it is not shown in the aircraft library.

Could it be the Thumbnails that JD_Wyberton refers to, above? If so, how do I implant the thumbnails to make the 10 appear in FS?

Hi Grace

I wouldn't think the lack of thumbs stops the aircraft showing only a pic of it in the chooser

The post above yours mentions just saving it into each texture folder.

Hi Grace, have you downloaded the panel too?

DM has his panels and guages etc in a folder called "DMFS Shared Files" which must also be in the simobjects airplanes folder.

Give me 5 minutes then check your PM's ;-)

That's correct. You have to move DM's Shared folder over too. The lack of thumbnail will not stop any model working.. you'll just see a blank instead of a pretty picture when you're looking in the 'Select Aircraft' folder ;-)

Dave/All,
This isn't strictly true; for some aircraft, for no reason I can work out, they mess up the order of what shows, and as such you start to loose aircraft off the bottom of the list.

Not really sure how to explain it, when it happens again, I'll post a screenshot ;)
