Hey Tony, my rig is very similar to yours - except I have the E6850 and X1950XTX with the P5K-E WiFi AP and 4 gigs (OCZ HPC8500 Reaper). My cpu is at 3.64GHz and the RAM at 1014MHz.
I have a little stuttering - especially at airports or low-altitudes, but found it acceptable. I always have the settings max'd out. The advice I got was to lower the frame rate setting in FSX - as it doesn't mean you won't get over that, but it does mean that FSX is less likely to start cutting things out of the picture.
I never actually checked the FPS rates - but I can give it a go with FRAPS.
Embarassing to say the least - my average framerate is a measley 6 fps. Shock! That's both internal and external viewing, using TrackIR. Went up to 8 a couple of times and down to 5 a couple of times - but mostly stayed on 6. I never thought it would be that slow - it always seemed quite acceptable to me.
The problem is, despite me having set FRAPS to show the framerate in recordings - it hasn't. Maybe because it's unregistered?
I'll have to fly it again and get either FSX or Tray Tools to display the framerate instead.
I forgot to add I was using "Fair Weather" with Trilinear and Anti-aliasing set.
When I disabled anti-aliasing and trilinear (ie "none" setting for texture filtering) it made no difference at all to the framerate - so something is most definitely wrong somewhere. The picture was complete cr@p, though! :tab:
Yeah - I tried that, too, mate - it made no difference at all. I also tried sliding the minimum FPS setting from 10fps (the lowest it will go ) to unlimited and there was still no difference.
I think it would take a long time to suss that out, so I'll probably not bother!
