ILS Display
I refer to the excellent Argosy by Rick Piper, first of all this topic is not meant to in any, to criticise this man`s work in fact its probably something I have missed in the manual or some procedure I have done wrong.
I tune the Nav radio frequecy to the appropiate frequency of the airport concerned but there is no reaction from the ILS display, the off flags are still visible, I have two PCs with totally seperate Flt sims and the same happens on both, can you avionics experts please put this ex `heavy` out of his misery.
By the way since I have used this forum I have learnt a vast amount of knowledge which has increased my enjoyment of flt sim , contrary to the old saying that ` you can`t teach an old dog new tricks ` I am living proof you can, thanks a lot

Re: ILS Display
Hi sammach
I'll go and take a look at the Argosy for you as I can't remember having a problem with it (teaching an old dog new tricks is one thing.. getting it to remember is something else)
EDIT..
Sammach.. check to see if you have ILS selected on the SFS gauge (on the centre panel). If you don't.. the ILS needles will remain inactive ;-)

Re: ILS Display
Hello Dave,
Thanks for your prompt reply, I have located the ILS switch on the centre panel and indeed pressed but no responce, I have gone to the manual and the illustration in there indicates an ILS light display, I have no such light.
I have had the file downoad for quite a while and I have altered the Flt sims from time to time, maybe I should try a new download from the Classic site, I will try a new installation and come back to you, thanks for your time and interest.........Stan

Re: ILS Display
Have you made sure that your avionics master display is set to Nav rather than GPS ? If GPS is set on many a/c the ILS will not display - ( I do not know whether this occurs on the Argosy but it is a common cause of your trouble)
Re: ILS Display
thanks cstorey,
I know what you mean, I have just checked the Manual and I cannot locate a GPS/Nav switch, the Argosy panel has a GPS but I cannot locate a switch.
I have reinstalled the Argosy with a new download from Classic British Aircraft site, the ILS gauge is still not functioning, however I installed the Aircraft at East Midlands Airport and took off with a reduced fuel load and did a circuit with autopilot engaged, and navigated with heading engaged. I notice that the beam coupling light was illuminated when I was operating the autopilot glidesope switch, so I lined up with runway at about 3000ft and engaged glidescope , the aircraft proceeded to make a perfect ILS approach to East Midlands Airport, but the ILS guage did not function.
It seems therefore that the problem is with the ILS gauge, I could live with this, using the GPS to line up in really foul weather and engageing autopilot glidescope, I would not really mind because this model by Rick Piper is superb, I would be interested to know if anyone else has encountered this problem, thanks to all ......Stan

Re: ILS Display
Hi,
There's a bit in the manual about this, Tune both Navs to the ILS and you will get the indication on the CDI.
Regards
John

Re: ILS Display
Thanks Quantum, for your interest, but I have tried that , I have just done an ILS approach to Gatwick in the night in the rain and the autopilot works perfect. This model is absolutely superb the sound is exactly like the Dart as i remember the few times I saw a RAF Argosy, as I said I am not complaining, I just want to know if anyone has had the same experience, every thing is working except the ILS display

Re: ILS Display
Hi Sammach..
The ILS display does work mate so I'm not sure why you're not seeing it. It must be something simple that you're not doing. The difficult part is finding out just what that is  Are you seeing anything at all off it or just the two 'OFF' indications??

Re: ILS Display
Hi Sammach
This may sound confusing but it is just the way the SFS selector works, why I don't know, but apparently it was the same on the Vanguards in their heyday.
If you select the ILS frequency on NAV 1then the SFS Selector Switch must be set to the right, if on the other hand the ILS is selected on Nav 2 then the SFS Selector Switch must be set to the left, to avoid confusion and if you are not using VOR onto the ILS then select both Nav 1 and Nav 2 to the ILS then the SFS Selector can be set in either position.
You will find the SFS Selector on the main panel immediately above the OAT Gauge.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Nigel.

Re: ILS Display
Hello Dave,
I am seeing the horizontal and vertical lines with the off flags, just as though the display is switched off, this regardless of the fact that I have both navs tuned in to the appropiate frequency, everything else is working fine I position the aircraft roughly on the approach and select the loc beam switch when i feel reponce I select glide on the autopilot and the aircraft makes a perfect ILS approach, the ILS display remains off.
I will keep flying the Argosy for I really enjoy it, the model and sounds are so realistic, I will keep tring various procedures and operating various switches, if I manage to find the problem i will inform the forum, in case anyone should have the same problem.
I would send you a screen shot but I have to confess, I dont know how to transfer my screen shots to a topic page, I know how to get a screen shot, if you would explain how to tranfer them onto a topic page I will oblige.
Again thanks for your time and interest.....Stan
