In preparation I am trying my hand at building a base for the Sea Hawks - with mixed fortunes at present!

If you liked that little lot, you might like to see how the armed FB.3/5s are coming along (got to love the Red Devils scheme!) I should say that none of these textures are 100% final yet, still need weathering and more rivet detail adding, but you get the general idea.





(note, Hobby has pointed out some details are wrong on the Red Devils scheme, so I have removed some shots and will amend shortly.

Outstanding work Steve, like the word "weathering", will be good to see a bird for a change that looks like
it's had a few hundred hours flying instead of right out of the paint shop.

Funny that old saying "if only I knew then what I know now" when I was at Culdrose the Seahawks were used
on the Dummy Deck. From where we were on B site you could hear the Seahawks starting up in the morning
and the plume of smoke from the "bangers".

It was quite a site seeing a dozen or so of them wings folded ranged on the dummy deck. The pics I could
have got then ........ well, got yours to look forward to now.

Well Steve.....I have been following this thread for some time now and to see the model develop over the many postings has been a treat... The Sea Hawk is one of the nicest shapes of that era...superb work and like many others, I look forward to seeing your completed model.

I can only echo what others have already said. It really is superb. And all credit to you for picking up the tools and giving it a go yourself, so many (myyself included) have tried and failed, so well done indeed. I can wait to put her on the Ark.

Cheers to all for the positive feedback; it means a lot. I was telling Trev, I'm quite pleased with it, having started with a cylinder, a tutorial, some reference not much other knowledge than that back in November. I think it might have been Dave B or Garry that was saying that you really get to know an aircraft when you model it, and they are 100% correct - I know it as much as I know the Canberra now, which is something I never thought would happen!

As for beta testing, there is no set team yet, apart from a few people who have expressed interest. I'll probably host the beta model through the site I'm building for it, so all will be able to download it from there. I'm not sure if I can manage July though as I still want to add more to the basic model and then there is the panel left to do. If anyone wants to do that, by the way, they are more than welcome to and will be fully credited. It will speed things up and I was not looking forward to it anyway!!

Things left on the basic model are:

-Opening steps when shutdown and parked
-possible engine accessory bay
-final variants and payloads
-pilot
-cartridge start effects that we all love so well ( I have to agree with Seaking, a lineup of starting Sea Hawks looks cracking).

and I think that's it! So maybe late July, or early August.

I am sure you will not have a problem with getting testers here Steve, especially now Rick's Hawk has flown the nest!

I always think (from seeing things here before) that it is better to keep release dates a highly guarded secret! I would suggest (at best) saying it should be in beta in Summer 2008, that way those living in the UK might never see it :roll:

I have a foolproof method to tell it is Summer here in the UK...........the rain is a tad warmer..
