Strange 737 mishap at Malaga

Post by cstorey »

This happened on 20.7.2008. I recall a VC 10 incident like this, but could not dream it would happen to a 737

That can happen easily to any nosewheel aeroplane

I have seen a Viscount like that.they loaded the rear baggage first and sen pics of an ACE Constellation like that

A lot of aeroplanes like the Douglas DC 4-7, Carvair and Trislander used tail props while loading.

you can add, Dc8 -73 , 747 and CL44 to that list - the Cl44 was so bad - a tail prop OR nose cleats were used when loading
over the rear sill.

Although with a 737 it must have been pretty extreme to get it to do that.

I can't believe that you forgot the 727. The sole purpose of the aft stairs was to be a tail prop. Boeing discovered that they would need one when they got late in design due to the weight of the 3 engines and decided to go ahead and add stairs and make it dual purpose.

I've rescued 2 727s from what would otherwise be duplicates of the donkey. :)

The Merchantman had a tailprop for loading and unloading...It also had a thing in the flightdeck called STAN which indicated where the CofG was by measuring the pressures in the gear oleos :flying:
