Ian
If you like Dave Molyneaux stuff , Im about to upload the last two versions of it - A Military Mk1 with honest to
pete square windows and an austere panel, and a Mk4 (civilian version of the same - again with more complex panel
and square windows) He says that completes the Messenger and he is moving on -- There is a clue as to what hes moving
on to else where in the forum

Rarzilla is free.
http://www.philipp-winterberg.de/softwa ... _unrar.php
John
(Edit - above link is truncated visually by this BB but works. Otherwise just Google Rarzilla, I found it at the top of the list.)

Re: Gemini RAR file?
Leif - Just noticed you've thrown in the virtual towel & changed the Gemini to a zip - must d/l it to see if its all there ;-)
However Gents, as Leif has said before - after 4800 downloads not all can be bad about the rar format and there have only been a handful of 'adverse comments' (ie. complaints).
Cheers

Indeed, but just think how many more d/l if people didn't need to install a utility to use it. ;-)

I'm not trying to make a big deal of this but I feel we should look at the full picture. Unix users might say the same about the zip format - not everybody uses Windows! Zip has certainly taken the popularity lead now that Microsoft has adopted it within Windows but that is not to say it is better. In fact, the simple facilities offered within Windows do not even offer compression to the greatest level or other features that you have in Winzip. But perhaps levels of compression are not so critical these days given the high download speeds that most of us use, although many are still happily using dial-up even if our ISPs try and kid you otherwise. Everything depends what you want or need, but surely we shouldn't condemn things that just don't suit us as individuals.
Sorry - didn't mean to get too serious . . .

I don't think it's a case of which one is better John. Imagine opening a brand new petrol station but only having pumps for LPG and 4star.. you immediately isolate the unleaded & diesel drivers. Whatever.. it's there in both formats (I guess) now ;-)

Re: Gemini RAR file?
I think mate.. most of us old dogs have both rar and zip on our systems.. I certainly do but.. there will surely be a great many that don't and have no idea what a rar file is. Every 12 months or so, we get questions asking if there's a nocd patch for FS9! I hope this puts it into perspective a little better ;-) You can please some of the people all of the time e t c
