Well I'm involved in commercial content creation for MSTS and it's where I learned repainting techniques before I moved onto FS repaints. Haven't bought KujuSim for a number of reasons although I might be tempted once it goes in the bargain bin. Can't recall the last time I drove an activity in MSTS though, apart from to test sound effects or livery applications!

I do have Ship Simulator but so far prefer the fast cross-Solent ferry, Hovercraft and nippy River Taxi round Falmouth activities and haven't tried anything more tedious with the Titanic or the other ships. I must have attention deficit disorder, although creating content for MSTS means the amount of time I have to sail or fly for that matter is limited.

Nah.. not quite that long ago. Walsall was an interesting place in those days. You could get a train (steam of course) direct to Pompey!! Always remember the lovely smell of coal and steam :tab: I believe the station is still there but not a patch on it's former glory. Huge facade with great tall pillars.. wooden floor that used to echo.. a ceiling so high I bet it was impossible to clean. Nope.. long gone. M&S is there now and the 'station' is a piddly little booking office accessed from the Sadler Centre and the trains look like they belong on a tube station :-(

Nowhere near as efficient as the modern lego versions but what life they had.

In the days before H&S and concerns about atmospheric pollution you went to see these things and to get dirty just added to the fun.

On Gala weekends they bring in the big stuff :o ...sounds and smells gorgeous ;-)

It's uphill from Bishops Lydeard to Crowcombe, so a lot of steam and noise.

I first flew over the Minehead Branch in 1956. Rtnd on leave and went to Porlock for one honeymoon and many family holidays in staem and later diesel days. I have been a member of the West Somerset Railway Association for 17 years and will later this month make a one day journey to Minehead from London. Steam hauled of course on WSRA rails.

400 volunteers work on that line which is 23 miles long. Tank 6412 is my favourite. It really is a wonderful railway which runs through a very varied landscape at all seasons of the year.

I believe there is one simulation of that line to fit the MStrain Simulator program but I just don't have the time, even though I am retired, to get involved in another form of the virtual world.

The WSR is certainly a great line, and the trainsim simulation of it makes a great representation of the line. I know it is uphill from Bishops Lydeard to Cowcombe but i don't think you can beat Washford Bank behind the right engine.

Thanks for the link to the 5619. I must say I thought the track looked a bit dodgy entering the main line, but that may have been just the camera angle. Wasn't it fun being on a bridge when a steam train passed underneath?

Trains and planes - I guess we are all still little boys at heart! ;-)
