Hey folks, sorry if I seemed to have dropped off the map the last month or so. I've been feeling a bit less than 100% since summer-type weather started showing up. It's been particularly bad on my back, which means my ability to sit at my computer. I'm still sitting here, but more often than not find myself leaning back and resting. Trying to hold a joystick and focus on a flight is a bit too difficult a task right now.
I'll be back to flying soon (I hope). After all, I still have two legs to go in the Britannia before I finish my TR training flights.
I'm still alive, I swear!

Hi Barry
No problem mate ;-) This is one of the advantages of the way we operate here.. fly when you want to but don't forget to keep logging onto FlyNET every now and again to remain active
You just keep looking after that bad back. Once they're buggered.. they tend to stay that way!

Take it easy Barry, backs can be bloody painfull, I've had 2 ops on mine, now I have a 1.5 " #10 stainless CSK screw in mine..no more problems now.
It's damn hot here too, 32c today, that does tend to slow things down a bit.

Wouldn't you know it, I'm all set to return to flying and...I tear a muscle in my flipping leg! So here I am, sitting up in bed to keep my leg elevated, unable to walk without crutches and unable to sit at my main computer again. :doho: :brick:
Ah, well, at least there's the Vicodin to make the pain go away. |-)

Hi Barry,
Sorry to hear that, hope your recovery goes well and you don't get too bored whilst laid up, we'll see you back in due course.
Regards
John

Well, despite my best intentions I'm still not "airborne" yet. There have been some more issues with my back which are keeping me from being able to focus on flying. I'm seeing an orthopedic specialist and getting MRI scans done of my spine, so hopefully we'll know how things stand here in another couple of weeks. If it ends up with a reduction in the amount of pain I feel I'll be one happy camper. Having to take Vicodin (hydrocodone) to sleep at night isn't a good thing.

No problem Barry ;-) You hang in there (not literally of course) and just remember to sign onto FlyNET every now and again to keep your account active. You can NOT fly here for as long as you like.. just that FlyNET boots pilots who've not signed in over there for 90 days ;-)
Tks for the update anyway and fingers crossed for a speedy resolution

Well, good news and not-so-good news from the orthopedist. There are no fractures, but I do have some bulged discs, two displaced and lots of arthritis in my spine. Basically, I have a bad back - like I didn't know that already. He wants me to try physical therapy for my back, and may do cortisone injections to help the pain. I get to find out in 6 weeks. Yay for timely appointments...
One good thing is I've finally been able to start some refresher flights in FS9. Got to get my skills back up and start logging hours again, darnit!
