Re: Avsim Review JF Vulcan
I had this Vulcan in FS9. Not easy to fly. Maybe the Elevons and Elevator were mixed up?

Re: Avsim Review JF Vulcan
I bought the Just Flight CD a couple of years back, (thus FS 9 version only), from the RAF Benevolent Fund, as a treat to me for Christmas.
I have never had problems with it. I know there have been posts on here in the past about it being not the easyiest aircraft to fly, but with practice it is a doddle.
My only gripe is that I do not have TrackIR so can't fly (much) from the VC, but as an add-on its one I would never be without.

Hi Bob,
If you look at the pictures in the review, the elevons and elevators are shown incorrectly.
I love the noise.
Dennis.

Hi Dennis,
Are you referring to the takeoff images?
Could you clarify what you mean about them being shown incorrectly?
Thanks!

According the AVSIM review the following represents elevon movement:MartynJF wrote:Hi Dennis,

And the following elevator movement:

They've got the pictures back to front, I believe that was what Dennis was referring to.

Hi Martin.
Scroll down the page, and you will find two shots. One marked Elevons, and one marked Elevators. They have been switched.
Elevators go up and down together, while Ailerons, or Elevons in this case, go up on one side and down on the other.
I'm not looking for faults, but it just jumped out at me.
There have actually been some nasty real life accidents where controls have been hooked up incorrectly. How that happens, is beyond belief. The pilot should check before take off. When I was in the RAF, the starter crew used to confirm correct flying control movement with the Pilot.
Incidently, I saw on the news yesterday, that a Virgin aircraft took off from Amsterdam en route to the USA, and the crew suddenly realised that they hadn't been fuelled. They had to make an emergency landing at Manston. You couldn't make it up!

Whoops!
While I was typing my reply, Chris gave you an answer. No harm done!

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes it is pretty shocking when shortcuts are taken with aircraft checks. I seem to remember a fair few accidents have been caused due to controls being hooked up incorrectly. Whenever I flew in the real-world, I make doubley sure that my flight controls do as they are meant to! Flying is difficult enough when the controls behave in the correct sense
