Tasmania for FSX..

Post by Trev Clark »

This is a free demo, but she is well worth the 245 meg download. The best I have seen yet for FSX, although on my weak system, the detailed airport slows FR's down to about 12 FPS. Go get it!!!!

Can one try using FSX scenery on FS9, or is the scenery engine completely different?

Hi Chris,

As with most things M$ produce, with each new incarnation.. the world changes slightly giving differences in elevation. Some of these remain unnoticeable but others.. airports for example.. will give a surprise (or can give a surprise) when landing. Disappearing through the runway is a common enough fault. With FSX, the introduction of .dds textures further add's complications as they're not compatible with any previous version. If this is true FSX.. I doubt it'll work ;-)

Concur with Dave

If these are true FS.X you will have a devil of a time getting them to work in FS9.

Thanks all. Caution seems to be advisable, although I suppose if it doesn't work I can always delete it

Providing it doesn't conflict and you can get all the bits out :worried:

Pretty much with everything FS.X is not compatable with FS.9

That is 9 may work in X but X won't work in 9

To be honest if you are not a whizz kid with this sort of thing it might be best to leave it.

If FS.9 capability was easy or remotely possible the chances are there would be an FS.9 version

For those of you fortunate enough to be on FSX ;-) this is well worth getting! I had a poodle around in Rick's little Foxbat and then a thrash in the Acceleration F/A18 (RAAF of course) and the scenery behaves superbly in both. It is a substantial improvement on the default Tasmania and there appears to be little or no difference in frame rates. This scenery brings life to the interior of Tasmania (always assuming, of course, that there is actually life in the interior of Tasminia  ).

Regards,
Chris

I went to Hobart some years ago and it has to be said there wasn't much life there so I dread to think how quiet the 'interior' is

According to MS, Dave, not unlike the Moon but with more green bits (not cheese though!) and trees (lots and lots and lots and lots of trees).

Chris
