Often mentioned on these forums, this film follwows two pax who are delayed by bad weather at LHR and other strories are woven into this

well....it's on this week

Set in the 1950's it feautures many aircraft of the time and cast James Robertson Justice as a BOAC Stratocruiser captain.

Very much a product of it's time, adds amusments for it's dialogue and sterotyping but is nonetheless a very watchable film and contains many scenes with aeroplanes throughout.

One worth keeping for it's aniquated novelty

Nice one Garry - I actually recorded about 2/3rds of this a few years ago - found it on by accident. I had no idea what it was it called !

I look forward to watching the first 1/3 now

I saw it years ago but wasn't in a position to record it. As for the time it's showing this week.. my TV never goes on before about 15:30 I'll leave notes everywhere this time.. just to make sure ;-)

James Robertson Justice in fact bore a strong resemblance to OP Jones, who was the legendary BOAC Chief Pilot of the Stratocruiser fleet, and who was the stepfather of a friend of mine . OP's demeanour was exactly as depicted in the film - autocratic, ebullient and in fact very funny
