unlike the Gannet which I also sat in and felt a totally different feeling (one of absolute amazement that anyone could land a brute like that on a moving deck!)

It was something to watch Steve I can tell ya, it's like it "floated" onto the deck with ease. As I have said before, one of the most amazing sites was the last
Ark COD coming into trap, she was so laden with mail you could see mail bags in the other two aircrew places and the bombay was full, she was a big black welcome
bird, no cell phones and internet in those days lol.

Kudos to all Gannet pilots...........the first to launch and the last to trap on missions.

What an excellent testament to the Gannet and her crews, and what a great mental picture that paints. I do love the COD colour scheme - I can only imagine I would have loved it more if I had relied on it for mail! I think we're going to have to re-visit the Gannet in '09.

Ok, back to business...I'm having major problems here with the 2D panel. I keep getting these annoying black bands at the bottom of my main view window, and despite trying the various fixes online to solve the problem in the panel.cfg, I cannot get it sorted. The weird thing is, sometimes I do sort it, then when I change locations or restart the sim, it ends up black again. Here's what I have for the main view. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Window00]
file=main.bmp
size_mm=800
//window_size_ratio=1.000
position=7
visible=1
ident=0
render_3d_window=0
window_size= 1.000, 1.000
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000
pixel_size=0,0
sizeable=1

Thanks a lot, Rich. With the help of Hobby, we seem to have ironed out the panel problems and are almost ready to go in that respect. Hobby has also generously been assisting with some of the FDE issues we've been facing on the project, and things are looking good in that respect too. So all in all, the whole thing is turning pretty ship-shape and close to beta release now.

The beta will be one model only, a clean config FGA.6 with one livery to test. I will start a new thread when the timing is right for it, and will ask those interested to email/PM Techy 111 to be added to a roster of sorts to handle the 10 at a time he can host for the beta flight. No jumping the gun yet though as we are still not there! ;-)

In the meantime, I finally got a suitable searchlight effect rigged up to the Harley light on the Airworks operated FRU FB.5 model. Quite nice, but you will need Shockwave's superb 3D lights to get it work. I will include the setup in the cfg, but that of course is as far as I can go.
