Klaxon on BAC 1-11
Can anyone enlighten me on a klaxon (which I can't disable) which seems to come on every now and then when in the 1-11?
Took off from Nice, heading 335 degrees for Blighty, climbing at 250KIAS thru FL100. I dialled in 15 knots extra speed and the klaxon started blaring, forcing a switch-off. This has happened maybe twice before out of all the 1-11 flights I've had - anyone aware of what it is and what may be causing it?
I can reset the master caution which usually bleeps when it detects ice, but as I have everything set up correctly, I'm stumped if I can figure out why the A/C is shouting at me...! (queue the obvious now....)

Hi Jim..
Sounds like you need to set the altitude on the AirCon or.. be ready with your mouse over the warning lamp as you pass around FL105 and cancel it as soon as it sounds ;-)

Yes.. it's one of those sounds isn't it. Even when you're waiting for it to go off, it's stil startling when it happens!

Too right
I wonder if pilots would be fumbling around trying to ID the reason in real life?

Set up on pre-flight checks, so shouldn't be. Plus rubber jungle dropping out down the back-end with self-loading freight screaming "We're all gonna die", usually followed by press headlines along the lines of "Jet in Terror Plunge!".
Crew would normally monitor that the cabin was pressurising during the climb.

Which begs the question: if CBFS had settings to detect things like cabin pressure - how long before I bankrupted them with compo claims from the virtual pax?? (If I were flying with them) - on my record - just as well I Ain't! ;-)

I wouldn't worry about them screaming. If you haven't set the pressurisation you shouldn't hear a peep from them after half an hour or so.NigelC wrote:Set up on pre-flight checks, so shouldn't be.
