What plane could this have been?

Post by Nigel H-J »

Stood outside having a coffee when I heard a noise rather likened to a microlight.

On looking up and passing overhead it was a bi-plane, not an old one but very modern in appearance. Did not have camera to hand but no amount of searching on the net could I find anything that resembled it. The engine was fairly quiet rather like that of a 125cc touring motorbike.

Dunno Nigel  The only 'modern' looking biplane I can think of is the Pitts Special. Had one doing aero's not far from the pub a couple of days ago as it happens. When I mentioned this to my long suffering kitchen assistant, she presumed I was talking about chocolate! :brick: :doho:

I wouldn't say they were quiet though as they're normally going from A to B in the quickest possible time (or so it would seem!! :o They're not that bad poodling around mind you

I'm not too sure but it appeared to have a long narrow fusalage, will keep my eyes open tomorrow and see if it passes again, I know there is a microlight club somewhere near Metheringham so it could have been from there.

Only thing that springs to mind is the Murphy Renegade:

:brick: This is most frustrating, all you guys have offered so much help and still nothing, one thing that has occurred to me and I completely forgot to mention it was that it appeared to have an enclosed cockpit. Definately not an open one.

Been patiently waiting to see if it would do a fly-by again but unfortunately no sighting!!
