If you know anything about the US 8th Air Force in Britain, you will know this man. The 8th has been an interest of mine for many years, living in this part of the country and often seeing a crumbling runway or overgrown Nissen hut beyond the hedgerows. Colonel Blakeslee truly was one of its luminaries. He was also flew Spitfires with RCAF and RAF.

I don't know about anyone else, but I always feel the world is a lesser place once men like these are gone.
A great man passed away

The world is a lesser place - but that Officers Mess on the other side is a bit more lively

Sad to hear that Colonel Don has passed on. Look forward to seeing him in the future!
