Some of Fossett's belongings found

Post by John »

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20081001/ ... 5ae06.html

Apparently they've found ID, clothing and even cash, but no body or wreckage.

Very strange

Wreckage confirmed as his aircraft now, if he wanted to 'disappear', we all know he was perfectly trained in the art of parachuting.
The aircraft was 'totally destroyed' and no remains have been found yet. If he was still in the aircraft, why throw out his documents seconds before the crash? it seems more likely to me he was already on foot at the stage these documents were dropped.....the plot thickens! I wonder if they did a check on his finances when they first found he went missing?

to many people beleve in conspiracys, most likey the stuff fell out while bears, wild dogs or something was draging a peice of his body away.

In that area -- Bear or mountain lion for sure

hate to say it but it appears it was a CFIT - which would beggar the arguement that he was alive when the aircraft hit the mountain as to the "disappearing stuff" shows how ignorant some people can be - There are aircraft in those mountains that
date back to before world war 2 that havn't been found - the news people from Reno should be giving us more at 1200 pacific.
People have NO concept of the Sierras -- they are very very isolated and wild mountains - all you have to do is fly from LAS-FAT to have that lesson brought home -- West of a line from Beatty to Coaldale there is nothing till you get to Fresno.the higher elevations have snow on them year round. Sorry I DONT subscribe to conspiracy theories -- If I did - living here I would be a candidate for the tin foil hat.....

Its a loss he was a credit to aviation and tried to make the most of his life

Big problem with that theory though, he didn't have a parachute.

As well, they found clothes with the documents (according to the AVWEB Flash I just got), so it's unlikely that there's much (if anything) left of the body as it probably got dragged away by scavangers. We will have to see what the investigation determines (that will take a while). We may never know for sure what caused him to run into a rock though. He was a better pilot than that and one has to imagine that something prevented him from avoiding it (incapacitation, mechanical failure, etc), however the extent of the damage and lack of a body may preclude anything conclusive from being found out.

maybe after doing all the record breaking, and the "first to do so" stunts
he thought he'd have a go at disapearing into thin air.
now the poor bastard in sittiin somewhere with Db Cooper, Haffa, and the rest of those
who winggled their noses and went .......Poof!

(well, ......Haffa mighta had somebody wiggle it for him)

oh "daaaammmmmuuttt."
