BAC 1-11 Engine Failure
Hi there-
I've recently downloaded David Maltbie's superb 1-11 models for FS2004. Works brilliantly except for one thing that's quite catastrophic: sometimes about 30 seconds after take-off both engines shut down. Seems to happen with all the 1-11 models, from -200 to -500. Regardless of how full the fuel tanks are.
has this happened to anyone else?

Re: BAC 1-11 Engine Failure
Sounds like your overheating them. Either manually set lower thrust to keep the temps out of the red or enable the "top temp" switches located on the centre pedestal. If you need the power then there is also the water injection system that should let you get about 105% on the thrust index gauge safely. Hope this helps
Error 482: Somebody shot the server with a 12 gauge.

Hi peteb..
My twopennyworth..
Exactly as described above. The Top Temp switches are on the Pedestal in the VC. Alternatively, keep the temps in the yellow to avoid this failure ;-)

Hi Guys
I think the switches don't work in FSX.
they didn't on my last flight anyway.

Re: BAC 1-11 Engine Failure
Hi Dave
I might be wrong
just have a feeling in my water that last time i flew the 1-11 in FSX i tried the VC temp limit switches and they didn't do anything.
i just thought they may only work on the 510ED so thought nothing more of it as it's a long time since i flew her.
Regards
Rick

Hello Mate
You might have a point you know
You know me and VC's.. I don't use em so it's routine for me to keep the needles in the yellow. Though I DO fly other One-Elevens.. it's rare for me to fly anything that's not a 500/510 ;-)

Re: BAC 1-11 Engine Failure
the top temp really made a difference to me when I got the updated 1-11 with it.
I just give it full thrust, when I first take off, and top temp will keep me from over cooking it. I just check to make sure I am not over speeding them.
with it being 35c here in the summer regularly though, that is usually not a problem.
though, keeping int in the green after takeoff usually make the climb to altitude. uh, Leisurely. |-)
