Stephen Fry on the pen.....good to hear!

James McAvoy, not too sure, but like all things I am eager to be pleasantly surprised, this thread has been up and down with its comments but either way I am looking forward to it very much.

Of course what no-one has asked is how accurate the original film was. Having done bit of googling, it turns out the dog that everyone was getting so excited about was killed the day before the mission, not on the day itself. Damn Brits re-writing history to make a story more dramatic...

In the old film the dog was killed and was to be buried that night at about the raid time.

The raid was in the early hours of the following day so the dog was killed the day before according to the film

Also parts of the original film were not accurate due to the fact that a considerable amount of the raid itself and equipment used were still classified.....

As much as I like James McAvoy I just don't think he has the presence to pull it off. I never used to put any stock in casting rumours until everyone started murmuring about Simon Pegg playing Scotty in the new Trek film months before it was actually announced and that actually turned out to be true, so you never know I suppose.

Yes, but with Pegg, the difference is that it'd be extremely hard to find anyone else who looks even remotely like Jimmy Doohan and more importantly can replicate his fabricated Scottish drogue (which was actually a butchered "Pirate voice" according to the man himself).
