Well speaking personally, I don't know what the V1 calculation was for this departure, or the speed the aircraft reached before someone called 'Stopping', with its relationship to the calculated V1, or the nature of the problem that could have led the crew to a stop decision after V1. ;-)

I suspect the fire crew had just been using the fire engine as a bus to ferry airport workers to/from home - and they were just arriving back when the RTO happened Although I'd question their choice of fire engine - you can get a lot more people in a Hiace.

Rejecting too late in the takeoff run is the error. End result, aircraft overshoots the runway, damages are increased. Pilot error.

What was the exact speed the ac was doing when he decided to stop?
