When the red mist had cleared - why do we have to put up with these half-wits? I also sent Ito a message of support and thanks for his work.
This morning I received a lovely email in reply.

I too received a wonderful email early this morning. Seems he is very happy with the number of people that have supported him with their kind words and thanks. He is also a very kind and caring gentleman and has always given me superb support with what has gone on recently concerning Mum's sudden death. His words have a lot of meaning and that means a lot to me.Buggyman wrote:This morning I received a lovely email in reply.

Having now corresponded with him in reference to the DH86 I also find him a gentleman. I will make one observation with the DH108 - it would seem the
days of inflatable control services have gone. The Swallow is quite delightful . I hope he continues to be as prolific. It is beyond me that people send hate mail.
I just post my anger -- it makes me feel so much better. Martin - the only reason that the 86 has NOT appeared at CBFiles is I respect his wish that nothing
be changed - I can put it up there with a proviso that the Rapide sound files may be better suited

It's great to hear that Mr. Ito is receiving such heartfelt support from his fellow simmers.

I really admire Mr. Kazunori for the increasing number of new aircraft he is releasing since a few years
However, I think its capacity should be addressed to issue fewer planes but with more accuracy, especially inside the cockpits (and now, please avoid to say the usual "do it better" statement, it is not constructive)
The critics , for all artistic expressions ( why not for new FS planes ? That's a new art
) , is usually matter of people unable to paint, play, or design everything.
(in my miserable case, only able to fly real and virtual planes). It should be better to have a Kazunori Ito's aircraft once a year BUT :o To be very prolific usually means to loose the bearing in quality.
Sure, he is a wonderful Gentleman and , in this way, he is in a better position to undestand what I mean. May be my personal opinion could not be understood and create some hurts among the community , but that's it
It's a shame to see all those admirable efforts mispent in creating good but medium-low and average stuff. :-( The better way to enhance each own ability is to discuss and analize weaknesses, mistakes and/or superficiality, in order to reach the best results)
I hardly learned the lesson since my childhood , as a plastic kit modeller, in the sixties. Some stupid people criticised Mr. Ito remarkable works (mainly from USA), insulting him , too.
I condamn them ,obviously , but I think objectivity is a must and my opinion is only addressed to help him in doing his hobby job in a better way.
Thank You

He has always told me that he just likes to build what he is interested in. I dont think we will ever get Kazunori to 'slow' down production, he is such a prolific chap and enjoys what he does. It is the design that interests him more than anything else and I look forward to the next replica whatever that is (not that I have been told so far!).
Best wishes,
Martin

I think he' an FS treasure and whether you like his models or not I see no concievable reason to insult him.

Kikko,
Having conversed with him in the past, programming is not his strong suit and so his modeling is doing what he can in the time that he puts on himself as the "appropriate" amount of time he wants to put into them. He didn't do VCs for quite some time due to the lack of good photos of the aircraft he modeled as far as cockpits and him not wanting to spend the months and months that some do to find those photos. At the same time, he has never had any luck programming gauges or making anything more than basic panels (i.e. integration issues), so he'd rather spend time doing what he knows how to do well and let others who know how to make panels, sound sets, and flight dynamics "plug into" his models. He does not want the original package modified, but he has no problem with people uploading "improvements" for it in the form of those panels, sounds, and flight models.

From my experiences in the train simming community, it is often better to have something of lower quality than nothing at all.
Variety is the spice of life etc...
Although there are probably more reasons to have a variety of rolling stock in train sim.
He's in it for the hobby and that I can really relate to, do what pleases you first then share it with others.
I've noticed a worrying trend in train simming recently that quality is everything, with the release of Rail Sim and the up coming MS TS2 - that is going to almost kill off freeware modelling. It looks like the Flight sim community may be going the same way.

Re: DH108 Swallow from Ito san now at FS.com....
Of course , my point of view is not pure criticism. He has great ideas in subjects, doing exotic planes that the payware firms never will produce, since the market calls for liners , liners and liners ( i remember a Jerry Lewis movie in the sixties with an appropriate title: Boeing, Boeing, Boeing) . This is his strenght and I hope in the future to enjoy Mr. Ito-San creations with that little bit more in details and attention that make the difference.
For istance, he did our lovely macchi Mc.200 fighter and , as far as I know , it should have been the best Saetta around BUT he put inexplicably "plain flaps" instead of "split flaps" and the visual effect makes the whole thing decisively uncorrect. In this way I am sorry about the Kazunori Ito production. He has reached a good quality level just to make coarse mistake and ruin a plane for a distraction , I imagine due to scarse photo or drawings analysis, frustrating his efforts in hours and hours of work. .
I am sure that you undesrtand what I mean... imagine a Spitfire , for instance, with Fowler flaps
. I hope Mr. Kazunori could read these comments because I put at his disposal all my photos and publications of my 50 years old archive , just to help him in doing the best.
