My sentiments exactly, Nigel -
If I hadn't volunteered so much of my time for being nice to tourists, I could spend it on much less stressful things like this :-(

The patient is making progress...the gauge is an xml one, from the default DH88. I had not bothered with that plane until yesterday, but I fired it up, and surprise, surprise that gauge goes backwards too!
Since then I have found several variants of the same gauge. Only one of them moves around the range on the dial as I think they are all meant to. Since the xml code for moving the needle looks identical (albeit with different names for the gauge), I now think other engine parameters are not adding up to the right numbers to drive the needle the right way. There was a time when I got paid for this sort of thing, but now it is like the old Sc C E Highers...'Analyse Pymblechook's epic poem and say why you like it ' (! -no option there, if you gave your honest opinion you were shot at dawn  )

Age and low cunning will always prevail.

 Interesting - just checked the .air file for the DH88 and there is no record 505. So now I don't know if that record is even relevant. One thing puzzles me though - you said you found a gauge that works correctly - have you tried that in the aircraft you originally had the problem with?

Let us know if you discover anything new and good luck!

;-) It took a while to find any planes with that record in the air file - it seems to be a FS98/CFS thing, so they are probably port-overs. I will be trying the 'good' one later today.

Cheers
