FlyBe.....The End Of An Era

Post by Garry Russell »

Tomorrow (Sunday 26th October) a BAe RJ-100 will fly from Guernsney CI to Exeter marking the end of the BAe 146/Avroliner RJ career with the carrier

http://www.businesstraveller.com/news/f ... ae146-jets

Which make me ask how many if any British Airlines still use the type on a regular daily schedule?

A dying breed for sure :-(

Definately a classic. Does anyone know if the 146 out sold the 1-11?

Hi Ben..

Combine both the 146 and RJ's and yes, they outsold the One-Eleven (221x 146 - 166x RJ.. 244x 1-11) :)

According to those infallible sources (Wiki and My Lord Maltby) the score is about 387 146 v 244 111. (But then Dave got there first while I was playing with me abacus)

The picture at the heading of the Wiki 146 piece reminded me that my last flight in a 146 was a Buzz aircraft - after they had been taken over and operated in a shadow world as Buzz Stansted (IIRC) providing a cover aircraft for a tech Ryanair flight. It was also an all-female crew, although not exhibiting Graham's laws of motion. As an injunear, I might have noticed.

Thats an easy change peter if you use editvoicepack you can change them to 146.

So there we go folks, arguably the most suceessful British jet airliner of all time... and in my top 3 with the trident and VC10.

Very sad. I only wish we had a good one for.... :-(
