Heh, thought it was real for a few seconds then
Error 482: Somebody shot the server with a 12 gauge.
Re: You won't believe this!...
I think if it was real you would have seen the colour of adrenalin all over the cockpit? But there again who knows.

It is an RC model and (I think) some CGI, good fun all the same!

Quite. Luckily he had a couple of strong bolts - but was one of the greatest pieces of airmanship ever seen. Such a shame he was killed in (relatively) such a simple mistake in IMC.DispatchDragon wrote:Someone read about Neil Williams and the Zlin didn't they??

Shame his book "Airborne" is out of print. They reprinted "Aerobatics" in the late 90s, but IMHO "Airborne" is a far more compelling read.

A great video Peter
but I think CGI has come into play here, all be it some very convincing CGI indeed.
For me it raises a hypothetical question. My understanding is that some aircraft of this style, such as the Sukhoi 26, have a sufficient power to weight ratio to be able to hover.
Therefore I wonder whether following such a failure (and assuming the aircraft could be brought under control and into the hover) it would be possible to land in the manner of a helicopter. If the wing failed with the aircraft in the same attitude as in the clip it might be possible.
I couldn’t find any clips of aerobatic aircraft hovering (althought I’m sure there out there) but the following clip of an RC aircraft illustrates the premise (see about 1m17s into the video).

The one that springs to mind is the Israeli F-15 that lost a wing
