Seems sad. Youd think that somewhere with such history and such an excellent location would have a future. Looks ideal for regional jet operations. Budapest revamped their similar 1930s/50s terminal 1 at Ferihegy and as far as I know that went very well and is now used by LCCs while the likes Malev and BA use the modern terminal 2.

Shame that it's closed now. At least I've got it in my logbook once.

Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.

I shall always remember it fondly after operating out of there for about 18 months in BEA S111s alongside the PanAm 727s. I used to love the bit as you arrived and got handed your allowances for the four or five day tour in notes (DM) :flying:

Another nice aspect was that at the end of the week you would as often as not, POSITION home as a passenger with a bottle of Duty Free! :dancer:
