It started to rain again. The front runners except for Glock pitted to change to intermediates, which was what put Lewis down to 6th. Glock didn't and the rain got a bit heavier and he couldn't keep speed and traction on the road as it got wetter.

Actually, Kubica caused the problem in the first place by unlapping himself. Vetter was in just the perfect position to follow him through. But it led to a nail-biting finish and the boy done good!

I am not sure how they will sort out the remainder as they didn't score any constructor points this year so they may draw lots or something to decide those places.

The remainder is only Force India*.



*who if it weren't for Ferrari would have had the points for Sutil's (almost) 4th place in Monaco.

Many thanks, teach me to fast forward and miss the excitment of wheel changes to wets won't it!!

I suppose even if Glock had pitted for wets the result would still be the same.

Well I really enjoyed the race as I was able to have the volume up (she who must be obeyed is mid flight down to MPN again). I was leaping about and just about beside myself on that last lap...I hadn't quite realised just how much gadgetry is controlled by push buttons on the steering wheel...Just looked in the cockpit of my model of him in his car and it does show some stuff on the wheel. I imagine that there is a fairly complicated set of connections to be made when you fit the wheel and I guess his hands were a bit shaky at the end there when he got out of the car and had some trouble refitting it.

I get the strong impression that he will go a long way in the sport and become one of the greats

The steering wheels on those beasts cost an absolute fortune and can change many different parameters of the car from remapping the engine to adjusting braking percentages. When I saw him leave the wheel on top of the car, I shouted to myself 'DON'T DO IT LEWIS.. PUT IT BACK EVEN IF IT'S WRONGLY FITTED'. We all know what the F1 stewards are like!

Agree.. there was no need for Kubica to unlap himself at that stage in the game (though he was within his rights to do so). Just goes to show how many friends Lewis doesn't have in the sport :roll:

I think one of the presenters said that Glock lost 18seconds on the last lap so whether he went off at some point I don't know but he was obviously regretting not jumping in for intermediates come the end of the race.

Have to admit I was yelling "Go away silly Polish Person" (or words to that effect) at the TV over the last few laps. While everyone should race for the best place they can manage in any GP, Kubica was not going to make any ground on his team mate ahead in 10th, never mind get any points. At least he did not run into Lewis under breaking for any corners.

I've seen a report that Timo Glock lost another five seconds to Vettel and Lewis in the run from the second last corner to the finish line as his tyres lost the last vestiges of grip - the rain came on stronger just in time for Lewis to skate through on his equally crocked rain tyres. The conditions were just that marginal that neither tyre suited all the way round the last three laps. Anyone remember the carnage at the last corner in 2003, triggered by Weber and Alonso, in the rain on dry tyres at the end of the race when it was eventually awarded to Fisi and his Jordan?

For those who love paranoid plotlines, Kubica is apparently quite keen on learning Italian and wearing red - maybe in 2010.

Anyway congrats to Lewis and Felipe, who proved that being gracious and gentlemanly in defeat is still possible, and hopefully Max Mosley, Alan Donnelly and Charlie Whiting don't interfere next year.

Max is not a racist, he has said so and therefore it must be true, and anyway anyone having a different opinion from the stewards as facilitated by Alan Donnelly is stupid (and doubtless deserves more of ze punishment), as Max has also said on various occassions. So that's quite clear.

As for dubious political connections, hopefully the next president of the FIA wouldn't have been a Nazi collaborateur or had a father who led on of the most dubious political parties of the 20th century (almost as dubious as Labour).
