OT Benifits in the UK.............stunned
Catching up on all the news this morning and came across this, with things so bad on so
many countries I was stunned to see how the taxpayer in the UK spends their moola.
Things have changed some since I left the UK

Anything quoted in the Mail has to be taken with a large bag of salt

I've a vague feeling the same report was in the Telegraph today as well. I feel dirty if I read the Mail so I tend not to.

I remember being briefed for my aircrew selection interview that I will be asked what paper I read! The correct answer being any paper you care to name (not the Times or Telegraph as some people lied about), the incorrect answer is 'I do not read a newspaper at all'
How times change!

This is the second similar such instance that has come to light recently - the first being the female Afghan Asylum seeker with a large family being housed in a large house in Ealing all paid for and again, seemingly not short of 'readies' for herself and offspring. I'm sure there are many other similar cases.
What people here in the UK find difficult to understand is - how do these 'net-contributors' manage to get such preferential treatment? Many long term tax paying Indigenous citizens get little or no change from the authorities, when faced with a similar situation.
Also, aren't we supposed to be in a credit crunch, especially with numerous councils losing substantial amounts of money invested with mickey-mouse Icelandic Banks and similar?

I feel dirty if I read pretty much any newspaper, read any major news website or watch any news broadcast on the TV. They are all as bad as each other and all have their own vendettas to push. None of them should be trusted to report the facts accurately.SkippyBing wrote:I've a vague feeling the same report was in the Telegraph today as well.
