I was talking to three of our cabin crew the other night -- Layovers are now totally frowned upon two of the three had been
flying for us since we started and had NEVER had a layover - out and back everyday (One of the companies more popular
policies is live in Vegas - come home every night (Unless you go tech somewhere) the only time we have night stops these
days are when we fly charters - (College Football in the Fall and Basketball in the spring) and then they seem to be bid
by the same crews ALL the time. The garbage flights (PM flights and RedEyes) go to the most junior or are dumped to
the reserve lines - No magic or mystique just fly out and back as quickly as possible and go home (Even the days of those
wonderful airline parties are gone) to much chance of getting a random pee test.

So much for the good old days

I think the reason that the Beeb have done that now is because BA is almost certainly intending to outsource cabin crew to an outside company to save them millions in wages, national insurance and pension contributions. The pilots are very worried that if BA manage it with cabin crew, there's no reason they can't do it with pilots as well. I'm sure there are plenty of other big service companies that will be looking closely at it too. I mean, it's not as if it is difficult to find people who desperately want to do this type of job and will be prepared to do so for a fraction of what they paid me!

One benefit of being old and retired, is that it's no longer my problem...actually, that's the only benefit of being old and retired!
