And yes, it is Jersey - well done. Quite what those BOAC Lancastrians are doing there I've no idea, though.

Hi Pete
I know Jersey well
That's not Jersey
Must be mislabelled

Wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that it's been mislabelled and it is an odd collection of aircraft to find there, I agree.

Hi Pete
The shadow of the tower is all wrong
The terminal is facing north by the look of it
Jersey faces west
If that was Jersey the parking area would be smaller and there would be barracks above the tail to tail Daks and sandunes to the right of them with the sea behind
The Lancastrians as you pointed out are wrong
Perhaps it is a trip some one was on that Jersey was one end or perhaps the aeroplane it the Jersey flight and that has been misunderstood.

Re: When Air Travel Was Still Fun!
Indeed. But as it's not Jersey, that reopens the question of where it really is/was.

If that Freighter was a Jersey flight with BOAC Lancastrians in the backround and a flat topgraphy I would say Hurn
But I don't know what kind of tower Hurn had
This one has a distict aeriel mast

I'm still thinking Hurn too.. even moreso now the phot was labelled Jersey. Makes complete sense which is a rarity round here
EDIT.. this is what Wickie has to say..
From November 1944 the airfield took over from Bristol's Whitchurch aerodrome[1] as the main operating base for British Overseas Airways Corporation until Heathrow fully opened in 1948.[2] It was the starting point of the first England-Australia service, which took three days in Avro Lancastrians (modified Lancaster bombers).
I'll try and find a phot now which is what I was looooking for in the first place
