Nigel

Always useful to check sites like Crucial, even if you don't intend to buy from them. So for your motherboard: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts. ... +(PM8M3-V) it confirms the type of memory and the maximum supported. DDR2 memory won't fit since it has a different number of pins. And now DDR3 memory is the new standard.

As an aside, what speed is your CPU in your current motherboard?

Kitchens  - my wife was happy with the existing units and doors but wanted a new worktop. Sounds reasonable? Not if the new worktop is Corian :o . But she got what she wanted. Definitely don't mention that.

Hi Ian, presently on duty so will have to be quick, it's a full moon tonight!! :worried:

Have a 3Ghz Pentium Processor. As for the 'Corian', will keep very :-#

Many thanks Ian, will have a look at that link tomorrow.

Regards
Nigel.

Is that a 3gig HT Nigel?? If so.. you might still be able to get some very fast stuff for it.. much faster than DDR400 but of course, you're restricted to what your mobo will take

EDIT.. scrub that. I eventually found your mobo and it won't take the faster memory :doho:

Pay attention Dave, I posted a link to the motherboard info very early in the thread... ;-) Having said that and entirely in your defence all this talk about kitchens - Corian indeed, mind you it's a thought, I fancy a bit of that myself. Better see if the current version of kitchen is up to the job - I hope so, I don't fancy a complete upgrade!

Chris

I don't know what was happening at Crucial Chris but that link wasn't playing ball. Eventually.. it did hence my edit ;-)

Anyway.. Nigel will get many more years of pleasure out of new kitchen cupboards than he ever would out of pc components :)

Look on the bright side Nigel; by the time you do replace the bits on the PC it will be so out of date that SWMBO can only take pity on you and sign off on a brand new rig (at least that's the argument that I always use)

Seriously though, take a look on Ebay... you never know! People are always selling off perfectly good kit that isn't currently cutting edge - you could save a fortune!

Chris

Hi Chris, think I'm going to leave it for a bit, will wait a few years and then go for another upgrade, FS9 gives me good frame-rates but just wanted a bit more RAM though not that desperate.

Will wait a couple of years then consider upgrading, that is if any new version of FS is tempting enough!!
