We like a good mystery
Was looking for something totally unrelated when I came across this in 'The Indepenent'...
Did Steve Fossett fake his own death??

Re: We like a good mystery
The wreckage of the aircraft was found in October or thereabouts at about 10000' AMSL . There were human remains nearby , which had clearly been interfered with by animals, and from DNA testing they were definitely confirmed as the remains of Steve Fossett. The sensationalised story which you quote thus had no foundation whatsoever
Re: We like a good mystery
That 'fact' won't stop the conspiracy theorists...but its is a sad way for a legend to go...you could argue that he might have commited suicide if knew his world was about to fall apart...if the facts contained in the story are correct.cstorey wrote:The sensationalised story which you quote thus had no foundation whatsoever

Re: We like a good mystery
I thought that too Chris. An interesting story and had SF's remains not aleady been identified through DNA, it would've been a worthy conversation piece. However, since his remains have been identified.. I can only wonder why that wasn't mentioned. Is it an old story?? I'd presumed it to be recentThe sensationalised story which you quote thus had no foundation whatsoever
EDIT.. ah.. Friday 1st August 2008 ;-)

Re: We like a good mystery
Yes, but note that the news report came from August 1st, before the wreckage and remains were found as well, so this was written not knowing the final outcome as was discovered over 2 months later.

Re: We like a good mystery
Ahh.. tks for that CT ;-) TBH.. when I saw the date, I couldn't remember when the 'find' was actually made but presumed it to be before then.. (doesn't time fly!)
Still.. all the comments and speculation remain valid even though the outcome is now known
