Re: 1960's scenery
The Breguet 763 (the 765 was the French AF Sahara so original caption was wrong?) was frequent at LHR in 1964/65 - even then it was getting on so Air France must have had a special reason for introducing it to LHR.
And can you see me waving in the photo? ;-) I was there that day although it was a Monday - maybe time off around O-levels?
And since my Mum and late Dad moved to their house around the outer marker of 27L in 1954, are they allowed to complain about the noise? Actually having lived through the start of the jet age, it was only ever Concorde on approach that was worthy of comment!

Hi,
Great pics, thanks. If anyone ever gets around to redoing the airport (we had limited pictures to work with), it will make quite an improvement.

Lovely to see the old Queens Building. I spent many a happy hour on the nearest corner in the photo

I'm trying to get me head round this - how does the 1967 photo, - http://www.airliners.net/photo/British- ... /0503402/M, - relate to the fabulous snaps above? Can anyone enlighten me?
I could do with detailed plans of Heathrow at it's various stages of development say, 1955, 1960, 1965, 1970 etc. Not asking for much really!

It doesn't actually say that the Airliners.net photo is 1967...The 1967 is for one of the "More" pointers.paul26may wrote:I'm trying to get me head round this - how does the 1967 photo, - http://www.airliners.net/photo/British- ... /0503402/M, - relate to the fabulous snaps above? BTW...Having been based at Heathrow from 1964 to 1986 I can assure you that it was the only building site in the world with its own airport...So there were major changes going on the whole time I was there

Re: 1960's scenery
Not on my machine Paul...The "Properties" of that picture are:-
http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-p ... 503402.jpg
And it is titled BAC 111...Which it clearly isn't...Nowhere can I find 1967 linked to that shot
Here are the links under the picture:-
Aircraft Taken at
More: British Eagle International Airlines
More: BAC 111-... One-Eleven
More: London - Heathrow (LHR / EGLL)
More: UK - England, June 5, 1967
Remark Photographer
G-AT** Visible aircraft include Pan Am DC-8 and 707, BEA Viscount and Comet, BOAC 707 and VC-10, TWA 707 and Air France Breguet 765
More: Steve Williams
Contact Steve Williams
Link to me!
The only thing relevant to that picture is:-
"G-AT** Visible aircraft include Pan Am DC-8 and 707, BEA Viscount and Comet, BOAC 707 and VC-10, TWA 707 and Air France Breguet 765"
The other links go all over the place and mostly 1979 aircraft pictures...I think the picture has been given the wrong title

Hello again Peter!
I sent an email to Steve Williams in November 2006, see below:

Hello again Steve,
Just one more question - if I was looking at a plan or map of Heathrow now where would your photo fit in?
Thanks again,
Paul Hart.

Hi Paul,
Glad you like it. Yes it is Terminal 3, the International Terminal.
The shot was taken on a Heathrow - Speke flight, on the way home from
the Paris Air Show.
