ufo or ifo
1000ft over Wolverhampton the other day I picked this up on the camera, by the time I hit the record I had already gone in a few lens settings, I noticed it at first just above the horizon, the video shows it closer than it was so bear with it..I aint no Speilberg ;-)

Very odd....! I once saw something weird in the late 1980s heading east adjacent to Auchinoon hill - sort of looked like a crow shape, except it was at least 2 miles south and about 3-4000AGL. Then there was a reflection as if from glass from the front, and whatever it was moved from horizontal to vertical flight and went straight up through the clouds. Was not travelling fast at all. I had a side-on view, and the closest I can match it to now would be a cross between the F117 and B2 - but - more like the B2 only smaller unless I had my distances out, which I don't think I did.....!

Not sure! Basically about 7NM from EGPH and whatever it was was flying runway heading, only it was about 3 NM south of the west departure route, IE it was above the Pentland hills. In all the years I lived there, I saw very, very few aircraft flying that route. The only, literally only other one I remember was a pair of A-10 tankbusters which was IIRC the same year I saw whatever it was. Those I could ID straight away. The weird bit is this: whatever I did see at first I did take for a bird, because it looked like that size. It's hard to explain but the speed it was doing was about right for a soaring bird, but in all my years I have never seen a single black creature flying that high on it's own. The Pentland hillls tend to break up cloud and there was a brisk wind from the west, with scattered clouds, I'd say around 4000ft at the bottom. I could probably have always imagined it was a bird if I'd not seen a VERY bright (Glass like) reflection for a split second and witnessed it go from strait to vertical immediately, with no change in attitude or reduction in speed. I saw it go through the clouds, which I know where fractionally north of the hills, well south of where I was. At that distance, I could not have seen a bird the size of a crow. It also (unless my range is totally out) was considerably smaller than an A-10 (or even a Cessna) from where I was.tonymadge wrote:That sounds like the SR-91 Aurora, your in the right part of the country?
Probably some explanation, but it's puzzled me for years! :flying:

It was to bright shining dots, there you go ;-)
As you clearly haven't identified it, it is, per definition, an UFO.

I suppose there would be no harm in contacting ATC in that area to see if they have any information providing you are able to give the time and position of the object(s) seen but then again, would they divulge that information to a member of the public?

Re: ufo or ifo
I have a theory to this.... it may well have been a 757/A320 climbing out of BHX and turning right, we were 30 miles away, the heat signature from the engines would show up well, but this new camera which can see a crows bottom on the moon
normally picks up the APU and the rest of the bodywork.... but I will go for the aircraft thought. But I bet my mortgage that this would be pooh poohed by a UFO fan
Just my thoughts...
