I've already got XP performance.....from a stable, reliable OS.......what's it called again? Ah yes......Windows XP

In our household Windows is losing ground to Linux, and that's a trend that will continue when XP support is pulled. One PC will stay with XP so that I can run FS9, the rest will move over to the penguin, Ubuntu for SWMBO and Kurumin (localised Debian) for me.

Hi all, sorry its been a while to post my views here... Well i had the home premium installed for a start, then after a while ive upgraded to Ultimate, just took 10 mins!

Anyways, i must say Win 7 looks and feels much better than Vista, theres alot to get used to, yes again but its easier than Vista was to XP i think...
It also runs smoother in my eyes too...
Havent tried it on my main PC, yet, so i cant say how well FSX runs on Win 7.

Cant say much more than that, sorry guys...

Added a second hard drive to my main machine and installed Win 7 on it so I can compare like with like. Have XP on the other drive as I never made the move to Vista so only really used it on my Sister's laptop.

So far really like it (I'm running Ultimate also, 64 bit 'cos it was free!) currently seems to run just as well as XP with a nicer interface, also added a beta of Kaspersky Anti-Virus which seems to be snagless. Haven't got complete access to my home network yet but I'm assuming that's because it seems to be more secure in 7 so I may have to RTFM to get that up to speed.

FSX works seemlessly, on a fairly non-scientific test I seem to be getting the same framerates and the DX10 preview mode seems smoother than DX9 if maybe a frame or two slower.

Going to load a few more things on over the weekend to see what happens but so far I'm a big fan.

Chris, what's the difference between Home and Ultimate? No I didn't read the site when I downloaded the beta I just ticked all the boxes and went for the download at the end of the list!
Having it on my desktop hopefully means I'll know what peripherals will cause problems when I make the jump to 7 when it's released.
