Re: Bad News for Flightsimmers
An influx of new blood might be just what we need for any future versions of Flight Simulator. It also means we won't have to worry about FS11 coming along and making all of our addons obsolete for a little while longer.
Re: Bad News for Flightsimmers
Phil Taylor left ACE's at the end of last year. This will have a significant impact as rather than leting ACE's go and do their own thing MS has cut them back, while keeping whats left inhouse to avoid it ending up anywhere else.
Very sad news for the people affected. Hopefully they will all find new employment soon.

Re: Bad News for Flightsimmers
On the positive side - they can't take my beloved FS9 away from me and I don't have to find money for a more powerful PC!
I'm very happy with what I've got. (Which is probably a sign of old age :-( )

Quite right Ianspeedbird591 wrote:I'm very happy with what I've got. (Which is probably a sign of old age :-( )

TBH, with the present economic climate, I'm more concerned that these folks find other work, rather than the future of FS.
I work for a huge company and sites are being closed and the jobs are being streamlined..it's a worry ;-)
There's plenty enough of potential to still work with FS9 and FSX without developers having to get to get to grips with future changes..perhaps, as far as FS goes, we should see this as breathing space...

Derek ;-)

Very sad to hear, feel a lot for those who now face an uncertain future due to this world-wide reccession. :-(
I wonder if a new company may be founded within a few years to pick up where Microsoft have left off and produce a flight sim, or could this be the end of FS as we see it?
Regards
Nigel.

It won't be the end, Nigel - unless the enjoyment police come round and take away your PCNigel H-J wrote: or could this be the end of FS as we see it?

All it means is that we probably won't get what we didn't know we might have got ...

Maybe it would have been cr*p anyway

Re: Bad News for Flightsimmers
Well, I don't ever think that I will progress any further than FS9....it gives me what I want and unless a soft-ware company can come up with a new sim including photo-realistic scenery, better ATC....then I am quite happy to remain behind FSX!!It won't be the end, Nigel - unless the enjoyment police come round and take away your PC

Nigel.
