Its fictional but also non-fictional!!!!

Post by Ben Hartmann »

Ok any of you mature gentlemen out there remember Airline??? Airline was a British television series produced by Yorkshire Television for the ITV network in 1982.

The series starred Roy Marsden as Jack Ruskin, a pilot demobbed after the end of the Second World War who starts up his own air freight business.

Airline was created by Wilfred Greatorex and lasted for one series of nine episodes. Other leading cast members were Polly Hemingway, Richard Heffer, Sean Scanlan and Terence Rigby.

Thanks for the reminder Ben :)

I'd just left the Army and started college as a 'mature student' when Airline was aired....one of the few times that I was glued to the TV instead of propping up the student union bar :-#

Even more irrelevant is the fact that I once met Roy Marsden by way of knowing his brother, Mike Mould..serious gratuitous name-dropping here

..after college I made sets and props for Bruvvers Theatre Company, Neeuuwcassel:

Hi Derek

It was Ben who wrote 'I think thats completely irrelevant' and Ian who quoted it back :worried:

Love the name dropping though  Roy Marsden was some sort of Secret Service bloke in another prog prior to Airline if my memory is correct and his partner turned up as a gay fellow in EastEnders some years later :worried: How off topic is THAT! :dunno:

Was that "The Carpet Baggers" ??

I remember "Airline", & I think it might have been brought up on here a couple of years ago, along with a photo link - must look for it, about a planned (second??) series that even aquired a Constellation, but the planes cane to notheing & the series ended.

Edit...wasn't on here then :$ but I did find mention of how it got the chop after 9 episodes, and the Constellation I refered to is now at Wraughton.

Those were the days he had hair - so did I come to that & before he became Adam Dalgliesh.
