I know what you mean Peter. I don't know what film was used on the original set of UKVFRPhoto or if it was digital but for sure, some of the reds.. the reds in particular seem woefully off the mark. Many of these were updated in the UKVFR Terrain package and offer a better compromise ;-) Truth is.. you don't 'see' them after a while but look for landmarks instead.. something not possible with the defaults :)

Thanks Peter, though my memory of the actual runways is very hazy as when there I am sure that R/W 27/25 was used most of the time.

Remember once after all a/c had left Stradishall for their new home at Finningley I rather stupidly went out onto the airfield at night in a landrover with one of the other drivers in thick fog!! Can recall that it took forever trying to find my way back to the hangers...got completely lost and disorientated!! :$

Regards
Nigel.

Yes, when we were there with our Hunters Runway 07/25 was the only one viable as it was 2000 yards. In fact on my AFCAD model I have removed the centre line markings on the other two runways and I have them both "Closed for Take-off" so for jet fighters it is really a one runway airfield and that is how it was in real life. The taxiways I got from a Remembrance Board on one of the websites which showed a diagramatic picture...They are close enough :flying:

Hi Peter..

I eventually found it in FS9!! Of course, these textures were taken from the Millennium map and show what was happening in 2000. Lots of rape seed being grown then by the looks of things!

Excuse the rather pale look.. I'd just gone through a thin cloud layer to get the whole area in ;-)

I've got the whole of 208 Squadron operating there now...12 hunters:-

They are all separate AI aircraft with their proper registrations but the actual textures are all XE609 Echo...So I've got a bit of work to do on the textures.

However, it is all working nicely with NO pushbacks...They just taxy forwards and proceed out along the front of the apron and return along the back of the apron. So they always park facing out away from the buildings (we flew a lot of armed sorties from here to a range on the coast called Holbeach Range).

Very nice Peter

If you want to see how far out it is with regard to VFRPhoto, send me the afcad and I'll be pleased to check it for you. Due to the shape of the world according to M$, these things are rarely bang-on but they're not far off either in most cases :)

Peter, I've still got the original layered PSD master textures for Echo you can have, if it will make your work easier :)
