Hong Kong snapshots

Post by speedbird591 »

I thought some of the old Hong Kong hands might like to see some pics from our half-term break this week. I only took the compact ixus so they're nothing fancy.

The seat is the latest BA Club World. This one is upper deck rear-facing, the thingy in front is a legrest which becomes part of the six-foot, electrically-operated, flat bed. The tiered perspex screen on the right is also electric and lowers or raises depending on whether or not you want to see the person next to you (or vice versa!) The crew are still able to pass glasses of chilled Heidseck over the top or round the corner in an emergency. The window was covered in what looked like Canada Goose giblets but, as all the take-offs and landings were at night, there was little opportunity to look out anyway

Cheers Ian  I don't remember many of those tall buildings.. in fact I think the Connaught Centre was the tallest building in that part of the world and has now been dwarfed many times over.. so much so you have to fight hard to see it! Smashing shots all the same. You can almost 'smell' the atmosphere ;-)

   Thanks Nigel.

Dave - I was just looking for a photo of Omdurman market in Khartoum (ref another post) when I came across this amazing co-incidence. It's a photo taken from the Peak in 1973 in almost exactly the same place that I took this week's. It certainly shows the difference in the skyline since the Connaught Centre was the biggest landmark!
