Virgin 747 EGLL-KSFO Takeoff & Landing

Post by nigelb »

Good quality clear video of cockpit procedures and checklists of a routine takeoff from Heathrow and approach and landing at San Francisco. I was amazed at how familiar the instrumentation looked!

Be sure to scroll down for all parts of the video.

Positively the best in cockpit videos I've seen. I have a strong suspicion that the first officer was an over 60 ex-captain - incidentally I understand that Virgin and others now have secured the right to keep people in command beyond the age of 60

Aloha,

does anyone know, where I could find such a vid for the 1-11?
Youtube only offers one - impressive though not informative about procedures.

Cheers,

Nick

Hmm..

A good flightdeck video (though not hot on procedures as such) is 'European' by World Air Routes (www.worldairroutes.com) and features the 1-11 (MikeFoxtrot :welldone: ) and 737-200.. ISBN 1-931438-53-6. They have a similar one filmed on a Nationwide aircraft which features the 1-11, 727-100 and 737-200 but frankly, I didn't like it much.

Just had a few hops around my office - that European DVD is what I was looking after!
And then I was just about to reach for my credit card and push the order button.

Until I found it is sold out...

:-( :-( :-(

These guys have at least two 1-11 videos available: www.avionvideo.com

Also you could try a search at some large aviation shops (perhaps this one: www.aviationmegastore.com) to see if they still stock that European video.
Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.

Just on the subject of 1-11s, I saw one yesterday - it was the red nosed and tipped one - is that the ETPS? - and it came in through Wallasey at about FL170
