Can someone please give me Dave Charlton's address or contact number - I am asuming he is the website owner - he's the one who I paid my £10 subscription to on the 28th Feb. Just like to extract it back from him!
It seems an exceedingly selfish act especially when there are people who have paid good money to support the site by being members. I can understand the frustrations- I myself closed down a site after recieving some abusive e-mails but I wasn't charging anyone for its use!

It's never a good thing when a site goes down. Especially one that was freeware, or in this case, sort of freeware. But I think most of what they ever did has been uploaded elsewhere over the years.

As a payware/freeware texture painter I'm wondering if the reason for their closure has anything to do with their subject matter and the fact that they were charging a fee. The RAF frowns on the use of their roundel (or cockade) for commercial gain. For example, payware places like Skysim had to get permission to use it on the Hawk release. So if ukmil was charging for membership and using roundels without permission that could be an issue? But
maybe they had made some sort of arrangement and that wasn't the case? Just wondering out loud.

Not only ask for permission..pay a one-off licence fee and then commission on every sale!

The UKMIL site has re-opened!

I thought it was for the Red Arrows scheme etc. there was a court case a while back which the RAF lost against a clothing company that was using the roundel. Basically it's been in common use too long for them to now claim copyright.

You're right they do claim copyright on the Royal Air Force Logo and the Squadron badge

If the site is now static, i.e. no new files, where does that leave the paid up members who have paid for the priviledge of downloading new files exclusively for a limited period? All the files up there now will be available to all comers.
Just my thoughts since I'm a paid up life member myself.
Perhaps then we ought to expect our subscriptions back and be asked in future for volantary donations.

Nothing that I have tried to download works - "not enough permissions" or similar. Never mind, I'll have to look elsewhere sometime.

Just tried one download, worked OK.
You do need to be logged in, and to download members only files you need to be a paying member.
