Are they due to reform with typhoon at some point?

no, the Typhoon is not sue until Oct 2010. The plan was originally for 43 to disband Mar 10, and 111 Mar 11, with Typhoon arriving inbetween in Oct 10

However, due to cost saving measures, BOTH sqns will not cease in Sept 09, and a small amount will remain holding QRA until Typhoon arrived in Oct 10 as planned

I assume Leuchars will simply be devoid of any flying activity bar the Tutors now that the AAC have left as well?

Let's hope they are given a fantastic send-off at the airshow this year, assuming they aren't gone by the 12th.

I assume they will keep some back to maintain QRA North until the Typhoon can take over?

yes, an mentioned in post above, a small amount will stay, to hold QRA, with a small Sqn to keep currency going, so some flying will happen, but just not from 43 or 111, as they will cease to exists as of 30 sept

Sad. I'll be at Leuchars this year for sure. For a look before the tumbleweed starts blowing.
Any ideas yet on what the formations and numbers will be when typhoon does arrive?

theonly thing we know, is 6 sqn will arrive in OCT 10, and will consist of 8 aircraft which is a standrad Sqn size for the tiffie. After that, nothing is set in stone, but presumed to be 43 and 111 for the last 2 sqns
