The last Concorde to Dubai?

There never seemed any real foundation, (literally and otherwise) to the story that G-BOAB would be displayed at T5, in fact it's been common knowledge for a while now that it almost certainly would never happen. But it seems that BA may have other plans for this the last Concorde in its care.

Better than being broken up and at least the weather out there will help

The clipping wings is only a transport thing and no different to G-BBDG for example.

Although not Dubai but Bahrain.......it did enter service to the Middle East rather than New York which a lot of the younger generation seem to have missed.....so of interest to Arabs

So anyone..anywhere prepared to look after it, intact in my opnion is worthy.

There are others in the UK and this one has been hidden away for a long time so in effect it is no loss to the public as viewing piece.

Of course it belongs to BA and it is none of our buiseness what they do to it, but I have always had a fear that it 'AB was left too long it might even have been scrapped............maybe not, but a real danger if it continued to occupy 'dead space in' a cost concious world.

Garry has a fair point. That climate won't be anywhere near as harmful as the elements over this neck of the woods. Even the USA struggle to keep their aircraft in good shape. I recall someone on this very forum stating the poor condition of G-BOAD in New York.

Shameful really.

There should be a money no object clause written into the handover paperwork for any potential new owner or sponsor.

Perhaps the middle east considering the wealth it boasts is a viable option. It gets my vote and saves it from becoming a baked bean can. :think:

Hmm.. Sand and aircraft don't mix particularly well but I'm sure those nice folks could afford a little something to keep her out of the elements I'd have it in the pub car park but it'd get covered in bird sh1t within a day Sad to see any of the 'flyers' go abroad but I suppose we have one at Filton and one at Man ;-)

My problem is I don't see the historic link or understand the desire that would drive them to have it. What they're doing to the QE2 is just plain wrong! (cutting the iconic funnel off) But thats not their fault, Cunard let them have her and they knew what they'd do.

Here's hoping if she does go that the conditions to her display are stricter than those for the poor old Queen

The fact that she can't be displayed at her operational home saddens me.

Well.. if we're going for airframes.. there's one at Brooklands (and we have the Concorde Sim now open too as of last Thur) plus one at East Fortune! Common as muck aren't they really I'll post a couple of shots of the Sim later if I can drag em off the old digi. Very impressive it is though not full motion. No details of cost to have a play but I gather you can fly it with an ex Concorde Captain

Indeed John, and the uniqueness of the 'Concorde' brand isn't lost on BA either as they've retained it for their uber-VIP lounges in both T5 & JFK. Its always nice to see the Air France Concorde when you taxi in/out at CDG, the same would be great at LHR too.
