First single seater flight - RAF Hemswell in last wood and fabric open cockpit single seater operated by the RAF. Well that's what I told my kids - Slingsby Prefect to you in '70. Pill*ck who flew it after me wrote it off and got everyone into deep trouble for allowing him to fly it with only 3 solos in his log. So had I, but I didn't bend it.

Re: Your First Flight?
First flight ever was in a Piper Cherokee Six out of Doylestown Airport, Pennsylvania during their annual 'Open House'. I think I was about 12 at the time.
First time at the controls was when I was 15; Cessna 150, reg N150EQ, out of the same airport.
First commercial flight was on a 727 at the age of 14. Continental Airlines from scenic ( ;-) ) Newark, NJ to Houston, TX. I was so excited/nervous that I refused the free onboard meal once airborne. I couldn't stay focused long enough to even think about food! I'll never forget the excitement I felt during that initial rush of acceleration on takeoff...

On my first commercial flight (a DC-9 out of Dallas) I accepted the complementary danish and orange juice but hardly touched them...too busy looking out the window.mgchristy wrote: I was so excited/nervous that I refused the free onboard meal once airborne. Re: Your First Flight?
I was less than a year old for my first ever flight - not much remembered there. ;-)
First commercial flight I remember was on an American Eagle ATR from Cedar Rapids to St. Louis, followed by an MD-80 to Washington National.
First general aviation was much briefer; a Cessna 206 to about 10,000 ft AGL, took much less time to get back down (didn't use the plane)

Re: Your First Flight?
Mine was in an Air Malta 737-200, Gatwick - Luqa in about 1980.
First 'military' ac was an AEF Chippie at Teesside (when IIRC the Leeming runway was being resurfaced)
First glider flight was at the ATC VGS at Catterick, approx 1989 (where I did my gliding course, 1990).
First helicopter flight, not sure first was the JetRanger at Blackpool or Gazelle at Sunderland.
First flight I was paid to be on was approx 1991, a Herald from Coventry to Ostend.
Last flight, yesterday, a B727, Kirkuk - Bahrain

Re: Your First Flight?
Right, it took some time to figure that out:
Mine was from Zurich to Palma de Mallorca in Spring 1978.
Sure it was a Swissair flight, must have been a DC-9-50.
I was about 5 months old.

Re: Your First Flight?
My first flight was as a 5 year old in either '69 or '70.
I had just had surgery to correct a 'hole in the heart' - they told my parents that I shouldn't travel prior to that.
Tha aircraft was a BEA Airtours DH Comet 4B from Gatwick to spain.
Don't know the reg, although I would love to find out.
Most recent flight Airbus A380, Singapore Airlines - last Saturday.
Regards
Kevin
