Been here 10 years now and I still struggle with the accent sometimes, at least, with the older people. A friend who is a local was in a restaurant in London and ordered plaice and chips. He got a plate of chips.

The younger ones mostly speak "Estuary English". Too much Eastenders I guess! Still as I come from Sarf Essix "Estuary" is my native tongue so no problems there.

As Stephen Fry says, it's"NFN", Normal For Norfolk! Still, even with the language problems it's a great place to live.

Having lived in Norfolk for five years, I found it funny. I recall causing mirth and hilarity in the office when I referred to Costessey as "Cozzy" and not "Cossy". You'd have thought they'd have appreciated the fact I didn't call it "Costessey" like some London blow in, but there we go.

Oh, and Norwich people hate you if you say "I'm popping into town" because it's a City. The fact I spent ten years referring to "popping into town" in the slightly larger Birmingham City Centre without a lynching or ritual staking in the Bull Ring was neither here nor there, Naarich is a city and has been for a long time.

Loved the county, couldn't quite fathom the inhabitants.

I used to live in Norwich; Onley Street off Unthank Rd, if anyone's interested. My mum still lives there. Anyway I remember someone once saying they had a fruit.
