Hi all,

After bumbling around at least a dozen times with Fsrecorder, and following myself as it where, I'm quite chuffed I don't lose sight of the lead aircraft within 5 seconds now.... I've been ambling over Leuchars, but it has to be said it just reinforces respect for the guys that do it for real :o

Airbrakes and 1 notch of flap to allow the aircraft to 'cruise' at about 245kts - using the throttles way beyond me for this stuff.....

It's the DSB Hawk Ben - I quite like it for the way I use it (usually hammering past at high speed) so perfection is not needed.

Dave - anywhere do an Adour decoke kit?

Nice Pics Jim, got my formation flying off to a Tee with Ricks' Chippie though flying close formation with jets is another matter altogether, any slight adjustment to the throttle settings and away it goessssssssssssssssssssssss!! :brick:

Yup - this is why I have flaps out and the speedbrake deployed all the time - then I can leave the throttle wide open, and if I need to gain on the lead, tap the brake or flaps up slightly. This is why the lead is belching hydrocarbons like Ian's fleet of course!

For some reason, only one aircrafts' exhaust is visible on playback (the lead) - same goes for any smoke effects a-la the reds version.

I just need to time the takeoff a little tighter, as the circuits are embedded now so I know where I'm going so to speak

FSrecorder is great isn't it. I've had eight planes flying around without any noticable lagging.
I think the trick to formation flying in the jets is to have the lead aircraft pick a speed and then stick to it throughout.
It's easier if the lead flight is predictable and you can guess when the turns come. Like flying circuits around your home base.
Something I have noticed when formation flying (and I'm not a pilot) is similarities to when I watch formations at airshows. I fly at Duxford and
now I understand why certain planes are flown together, why they thunder across the super hanger and out over the land warfare museum.
Because when you try it yourself it makes sense. Yes, I've got even more admiration for the real pilots because it's so hard and this is just a sim.

Well I find it darn difficult in the sim or for real - thankfully the only evidence is when I was leading rather than holding position on another aircraft

Yet again, inverted! My head goes funny if I do that standing still, let alone whilst kitted up in a flying suit and bone dome probably doing 200mph+ in a noisy plywood contraption! How did Peter manage that?
