AVSIM

Is there someting wrong with AVsim at the moment? It seems to take an age to get into and change pages etc on the download library.

Hi Simon

Just checked and it is a bit slow but not as slow as I had it last night

I guess it is just net traffic and another time will see it back up to speed

I could not search the library yesterday so checked the forums.

http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=248600

From Tom Allensworth:
We know! We know! Believe me, we know... And we have repeatedly said that we are having issues and are working on it. I don't know what else to say other than we can shut it down entirely until we can fix the issues. And to answer the presumed next question; no, we have no idea how long that would take. Believe me, I am about at the point where shutting it down for an indeterminate period of time is far better than the constant drumbeat of "it's broke", "too slow", ad nauseam.

From the Avsim front page:

"Library Offline

Posted: Sunday, May 3, 2009 - 7:06
The Avsim Library system is undergoing its upgrade and will be offline intermittently until completed, please bear with us while we make these improvements to the system . Our thanks for your understanding. You can access the library under what’s new periodically to check on the latest releases."

I do think that had they posted that message earlier, they might have saved themselves and the users a lot of trouble. That notice or something similar should be on the front page everyday untill the library is fixed so they (Avsim) are not swamped with messages and so the users know what to expect.

Oh Dave - the Colonial gits don't get a Bank Holiday Monday because I believe Avsim is based in Charlottesville, Virginia. I think their network servers are where I am - Herndon. Maybe I should pop around......nah, better not.

Incidentally, it has rained here since Friday and will continue until next Sunday, on and off. Have you been shipping your weather to the Colonies?

I didn't mean gits over there mate.. I meant gits over here. Bank Holidays have always been a bit of a mystery to me.. as in why do banks have to have holidays  The whole 'Bank Holiday' idea is so out of date these days as most shops are open so why bother. Can you tell I've either been duty or worked every bank holiday since I left school??

Well that's a relief. Least it's not my computer. Thanks for all the replies and the research.
