Yeah, someone should get onto the Ordinance Survey about that, their maps seem to be out of date!

I am looking forward to see this also. I don't care what they call the dog since he is not the main subject of the film as far as I can see ( I have the original on DVD.) I understand why they would want to change the name - why offend anyone. On the other hand the original name of the dog was historically accurate and people should recognize it was a different era with a different set of standards.

Apparently these aren't shots to be included in the film, they are just filming some test shots and experimenting with various filming techniques.

i remember back in the '80's we had to change from "nigger ops" to "black dog ops", rumour had it that one of the usaf controllers at upper heyford did not like it, so black dog it became.

What I find interesting is that a lot of very vocal people on other forums consider the original film some sort of documentary and that the remake is going to be some sort of Hollywoodification*. But was the original as accurate as people think? I don't know the answer myself but I've heard that Gibson had issues as we'd say today and that the height finding by spotlight/strip club bit was made up. Thoughts?

I've read that the spotlights were developed by the boffins without any mention of anyone getting the idea from watching a show.

I agree Skip that there is this unchecked belief that the orignal is accurate and the new one will be below par without it even being filmed yet.

A bit more open mindedness is needed methinks
