I just wonder if it's FS sometimes. Very rare for me with around 14000 rpm set to get above 700 (read never) - 760-769 is more like it. BUT, I've been mucking around, and did three restarts in mid-air of the Port engine. Landed, switched off, and couldn't restart despite the checklist being spot on (not that I need to refer to it) - all I got was 1900 RPM, then a close down, and props not even beginning to turn. Restarted, and was able to start from cold no problems.

Hey Guys,
sorry forthe lack of response - usually get e-mail notfication and as none was forthcoming since my last visit, I assumed no more replies had been posted.
Tony, you can fly the aircraft by simpy jumping in and using the Ctrl-E autostart, but Rick recommends that you at least switch on the inverters (2D panel shift-2 iirc) to prevent loss of power to vital circuits.
If you are flying at very high altitudes or in colder climes you will certainly need the de/anti-icing functions, too.
Regarding 2D panel, I always switch to that from the VC immediately after start-up, then back to VC, otherwise the gauges don't work correctly.
The start-up is set to the default post-acceleration setting - Trike at Friday Harbor (sic)
. I use the two aircraft (748 & 780) in my Air Hauler company and as such FSX is launched automatically, directly into the relevant flight with preset flightplan. There were some issues with cold & dark starting and requirements for default aircraft needing to be loaded first, but we are pretty sure we ironed those out in the beta stages.

I did lots of testing with this today and was about to give up after many flights when I finally managed to replicate the problem.
Starting 'warm' and running, everything was fine and no matter what I did, I couldn't get the temps over 800°.
However, cold & dark starting, the temps went to maximum on take-off (about 800° normally) and then refused to drop below about 830°, after I'd switched to 2D view again.
If I stayed in VC view - no problem, normal temps. So it is a gauge issue and connected to that having to bring up the 2D panel to get them working in the VC thing - but this time it's after bringing up the 2D panel a second time, during take-off.
Hmmm, weird!
Now I know how to avoid it, at least.
