Comet to be scrapped?

Post by AlexP »

What a great shame. :-(

If only it could be transported to the de Havilland Aircraft Heritage Centre http://www.dehavillandmuseum.co.uk/ . Space there might be an issue but but surely this would be the ideal location for it to be preserved?.

Hmm.. unless the DH Museum at London Colney suddenly come into a wealth of land, there certainly isn't space there. What exibits they have already are backed up to the fences.

I've never been to the DH museum but from pics I've seen and speaking to people who have been, the exhibits are not that well looked after there as regards external paint and protection.

If it did go there I find it hard to imagine that would ensure it's future.

It should be safe at Cosford as it's a military aircraft  ....perhaps then Duxford can have G-APAS and maybe even paint it up properly.
