Apparently the poles were put up last year, complaints were made, and nothing was done. Now this has happened and (as always seems to happen with any government) action is finally being taken. The Emil thankfully hit the thin aluminum flagpole instead of the thick wood telephone pole next to it, but they have now cut down both poles and the Royal Mounted Police (aka the Canadian FBI) are investigating the incident, so in addition to any possible civil action that Mr. Russell will most certainly file against the land owner, there will most likely be criminal charges filed as well.
It's not the first time this has happened and it won't be the last, but hopefully this will serve notice that there are consequences to these actions.
I just took a look at the thread and was a bit surprised to see the photo was taken by my brother-in-law! He certainly gets around the airshows that boy....lol.

Mr Russell will surely be able to afford a good lawyer...
...or maybe the idiot who put the poles up should have researched how Mr Russell earned enough cash to own such aeroplanes...
